CTAM at the next international conference
A significant conference titled “Cultural
Heritage and the Right of Return: The Restoration of the Cultural Heritage of
Azerbaijanis Expelled from Armenia – as a Path to Justice, Reconciliation, and
Peace” was held under the organization of the Western Azerbaijan Community. The
event was attended by representatives of state institutions, local and foreign
researchers, public figures, experts, and media representatives. Broad
discussions were held with the participation of prominent scholars from the
United States, Italy, the Netherlands, Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria, Senegal, Scotland,
Sweden, Switzerland, and, in total, from 60 countries. The discussions focused
on the systematic restoration of the cultural heritage of compatriots deported
from Western Azerbaijan, its recognition by the international community, and
the achievement of historical justice.
The speech of Hasan Ahmadov, Caucasus
regional expert of the “Cosmoline” Translation Research Center, was met with
great interest at the conference. In his interview with “Yeni Çağ Media TV,” H.
Ahmadov stated that the conference demonstrates that the restoration of
cultural heritage is not limited to the renovation of physical monuments. The
essence of this process involves reviving historical memory, recognizing the
rights of deported individuals, and transmitting objective information to
future generations. Events of this nature organized by the Western Azerbaijan
Community contribute to bringing cultural heritage issues to the agenda of
international organizations, promoting new research, and expanding discussions
in political and legal domains.
The ideas voiced and facts presented
during the conference also serve to strengthen peace and reconciliation in the
region. Respect for cultural heritage and its restoration constitutes an
essential humanitarian component in conflict resolution. In this regard, the
discussions held during the event lay the groundwork for the development of
future cooperation programs and the implementation of new projects both locally
and internationally.
At the end of the event, participants
proposed new initiatives aimed at protecting and restoring cultural heritage.
Experts and public representatives emphasized that the restoration of cultural
heritage must remain one of the main priorities for ensuring the right of
return.
The conference stood out for both its
scientific and public significance and made an important contribution to the
ongoing efforts related to the cultural heritage of Western Azerbaijan.
